After the Snow
After last night’s snow, the back of the fern border looks bare. This part of the garden is packed with large ostrich ferns in the summer, but the same deciduous trees that create the hospitable shade for the ferns also limit what can stay green here in winter.
More green would make the winter garden feel less unfinished —a feeling I don’t notice when the summer foliage fills in.
